Boardman, born in Leicester in 1973,
spent his formative years, growing up in Northumberland. He
developed a love of drawing and painting at an early age,
inheriting his artistic skills from his grandfather, a
renowned Cheshire painter. He completed an Art and Design
foundation course at Newcastle-Upon–Tyne College
before going to Manchester Metropolitan University,
studying for his Batchelors Degree in Illustration.
He graduated with honors in 1995 and moved to Knutsford,
Cheshire where he has lived ever since. He then spent
several years in commercial illustration, with considerable
success and was, in fact, published on numerous occasions
by Minerva Press, before changing his focus to fine art and
Gallery management. He has been represented by the
respected Wendy J. Levy Gallery in Manchester since 2004
and features regularly in their exhibition programme. He
also enjoys much commissioned work, from clients such as
national property developers and one for the specialist
sports car manufacturer, Lola Cars, based in
Cambridgeshire.
In parallel to his painting career, David has, since
University, followed his other great love of music. As
guitarist and singer with a Manchester based rock band,
Roller, he released two albums and toured extensively
throughout the UK, Canada and North America and now
continues to write and record his own material.
